NEXEL Co., Ltd., a bio company specializing in iPSCs, holds the first symposium following its business partnership with Japan's CMIC.

NEXEL Co., Ltd. (Seoul, Korea, hereinafter referred to as NEXEL), a bio company specializing in iPSC (human induced pluripotent stem cells), has entered into a strategic business partnership with CMIC HD Co., Ltd. (Tokyo, Japan, hereinafter referred to as CMIC), Japan’s largest CRO, and as part of this, we co-hosted a symposium on iPSC technology at CMIC's headquarters on September 6.

In this business partnership, in addition to supporting NEXEL's business in the Japanese market by CMIC, it has been agreed that both will cooperate for new drug research and development.

In addition, both companies recognized the need for deeper discussions on iPSC technology domestically and internationally as well, then decided to jointly host this symposium. This symposium was held with the theme "iPS cells: the Forefront of Technology and Treatment.” and consisted of two sessions on the latest trends and ethics in iPSC technology, guidelines and standardization, with the aim of helping researchers and research and development companies acquire professional knowledge and improve research and development capabilities.

Professor Koyuki Eto (江藤浩之 先生) and Professor Misao Fujita (藤田みさお 先生) of Kyoto University's iPS Cell Research Institute, and Professor Godfrey Smith of the University of Glasgow, UK, and Professor Yasunari Isada (諫田泰成 先生) of the National Institute of Pharmaceutical and Food Hygiene in Japan each gave lectures. Additionally, Kazuo Nakamura, CEO of CMIC, and Choongseong Han, CEO of Nexel, also attended and promoted exchanges with related parties.

iPSC technology is an innovation that Japan is proud of to the world, but in order to maximize its potential, it is necessary to conduct research and development from a global perspective in collaboration with researchers not only in Japan but around the world.

CMIC and NEXEL will continue to strengthen their partnership and contribute to technological innovation in iPSC.
